SCRATCH NIGHT OPPORTUNITY

at The Old Library

What’s on offer:

Thursday 20th June at 7.30pm.

A platform to try out new work or ideas in front of a supportive but critical audience. The Old Library’s inaugural Scratch Night will be a space where artists can share their ideas with an audience who will help them with feedback on what they saw and what they took away from it.

In addition there are four days of free rehearsal space in Bodmin available from 9am-5pm in an empty shop on the high street.  Mon 17th, Tues 18th, Wed 19th and Thurs 20th June. We will divide this resource among those who request it.

AND there is a development fund from Hall for Cornwall available per performer/company to cover costs and expenses. Please state whether you would like to be considered for this in your proposal.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for performers or companies to come to The Old Library in Bodmin and share your work-in-progress or ideas. There are two hours to fill and you will have a maximum of 20 minutes. (So there will be a minimum of four acts.) You’ll need to let us know how much time you need and if there are more acts that want less time, we can fit more in.

The stage is 3m deep by 5m wide and there is minimum tech. We can provide a general wash with lights up and down and PA.

There is no specific genre or art form, we will accept proposals from theatre, comedy, spoken word, music and dance - NB: the stage isn’t particularly suitable for dance and it’s not an open-mic, so we’re less likely to accept proposals to just come and sing your songs.

What we want to know:

In your proposal please send us:

  1. Your name or the name of your company

  2. A short biog about your previous work/experience

  3. A rough idea of what you’d like to do/share

  4. A rough idea of how much time you’ll need

  5. Would you like time in the rehearsal space?

  6. Would you like to be considered for expenses costs from the HfC Development Fund?

  7. Contact details, website and anything else that might sell your proposal

DEADLINE: Monday 3rd June

RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITY

at The Old Library

What’s on offer:

Two weeks free rehearsal space in Bodmin during August 2019 to rehearse and develop a new piece of work.

Two week residency at The Old Library to perform a current piece of work with a 60/40 split on ticket sales in your favour

Free accommodation in an eco cabin on a farm just outside Bodmin. The cabin has a double mezzanine bed and fold out double sofa bed. There is also a large garden are adjacent where a tent can be erected if the company is larger.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for a performer or company to come to Bodmin and develop new work. There are two, two week slots - the first two weeks of August and the second two weeks of August. We will accept proposals to take both slots and be with us for a month, but we will want to see a two week run of one show followed by a two week run of a different show.

We don’t have a firm idea of what we’d like to see, although as it’s the summer holidays, something family friendly may be easier to sell. We’d like to see companies that are bold and creative, with strong production values. The space isn’t the most suitable for dance, but that’s up to you.

The venue has a 3m deep by 5m wide raised stage and minimal tech facilities. It is a cafe during the day, so if you have a set it will need to be packed down after each performance or you must be happy for it to stay in situ and be aware of associated risks - mostly children climbing on it…

What we want to know:

In your proposal please send us:

  1. Your name or the name of your company

  2. A short biog about your previous work/experience

  3. Copy and images of the show that you’d like to perform

  4. A rough idea of what you might like to develop - we appreciate you may want the space to develop this, but give us a flavour of the thing you might like to explore

  5. Contact details, website, press reviews and anything else that might sell your proposal
