WHAT'S ON:

2020:

Hundreds of people come along to The Old Library and sit and watch, laugh, cry and cheer along with our fantastic performers. But all these brilliant bums on seats are taking their toll! We want to replace 40 of our chairs, and we’ve set our sights on something more comfy! But we can’t do it without you. Sponsor a seat for £30 and we will put either your name or your chosen person’s name on the chair, which will be used at The Old Library during our fantastic events in 2020 and beyond. Give your support now!

A tragi-comic exploration of living and juggling creative lives alongside everyday ‘real life’ pressures.

What does it mean to be a performer/actor/creative/writer in today’s world? How do we live? How do we survive between jobs?

Looking at the tensions of auditioning, interviews, workshops and also at competitiveness, age, self-esteem and how we find our ‘voice’. In a series of overlapping and interlinking monologues we deconstruct our pasts, present and future to define or re-define who we are. All this is sprinkled with an eclectic mix of dialogue, poetry, music, projections and voice over, combined with a bit of the quirky, the honest and the irreverent.

For the first time in over a decade, Lau present an entirely acoustic tour, as part of their ‘Unplugged’ Concert Tour 2020.

The pioneering Scottish folk trio have been acknowledged as phenomenal live performers (‘the UK's best live band’ – the Guardian), and now their Unplugged concert tour sees traditional music’s most celebrated innovators strip away their banks of electronics, loops and wild effects. In brash and polarised political times, here is the poetry of real instruments and considerate music making.

The Rheingans Sisters' playful and powerful music is wholly contemporary while deeply anchored in folk traditions. Making connections between the music of different geographical roots, they have developed a rich artistic approach to the deconstruction and reimagining of traditional music alongside their own beguiling compositions.

The sisters are full-hearted performers and spontaneous, on-stage improvisors, with adventurous use of fiddles, voices, banjo, bansitar, tambourin à cordes, spoken word, dancing feet and percussion.
