Meur Ras Dhia Gernow
Thank you from Kernow by Gwenno
In this video Daniel Woodfield, Gwenno, Hilary Coleman and Joe Lewis introduce you to Gwennos song Meur Ras Dhia Gernow and how you can learn it.
Gwenno’s Song for Cornwall is inspired by many stories about people’s lived experience in Cornwall over the past year. She wanted to capture the hope and pain that people have felt, along with the gratitude for the incredible work that NHS staff, carers, teachers, key workers and volunteers are doing. The song is written in Kernewek (Cornish) to document this time, as many more people are learning it across Cornwall. It’s a language that sounds wonderful when sung as a group too.
Gwenno’s Song for Cornwall premieres 23 March online at asongforus.org.

In this video Daniel Woodfield and Hilary Coleman sing all the parts to Gwennos song Meur Ras Dhia Gernow.
Here's what to do:
The tutorials for the song are above. Have a listen to the intro video and decide which part you'd like to learn. The main melody is the easiest to learn. Then there are the harmonies for higher and lower voices. If you play an instrument don’t be shy about adding that to the mix too!
Use the videos, downloadable song sheets and/or notation to learn a part - you have until 7th March at 8pm
Before the deadline [7th March at 8pm] record yourself singing or playing the part - you'll need two devices, one to listen to the melody and another to record yourself. Ideally we'd like it as a video, but if you're not comfortable with than, then a voice recording will be fine.
Send us your recording via WeTransfer using the email: and we'll edit it all together to form the first virtual Kernow Bedroom Choir.
Stay in touch by joining the Facebook page and group and when we can get the funding/project together, we will get you all together, when we're allowed, to sing the songs and perform them to others as a real life choir!
